Five Artyom Anisimov facts
The World Cup of Hockey is getting closer! The next up in our series of intriguing national team player facts is Artyom Anisimov, who is preparing to become one of the more experienced faces on the side:
A playing chef
Artyom competed in the AHL, and he was forced had cook himself at home: "I went into a shop, and bought myself a week's supply of food for 100 dollars. I love Russian food, and meat and potatoes is always a favourite," explained the Chicago Blackhawks forward.
Celebrated a goal too emotionally
During a match for the New York Rangers in the NHL against the Tampa Bay Lightning, Artyom netted a shorthanded goal. He was seriously pumped up by his marker, and celebrated by pretending to use his stick as a gun. The Tampa players took this as an offensive gesture against their goaltender, and their reaction sparked a mass brawl.
Afterwards, Artyom apologised for going over the top, and confirmed that he meant no trouble.
Was traded during the night
When transferring from the Columbus Blue Jackets to the Chicago Blackhawks, Artyom was woken up during his sleep with a call from his agent. Despite losing some hours of rest, being told that you have become a Chicago player is no bad thing.
Helped Patrick Kane and Artemiy Panarin to have a fantastic season
Young Russian star Artemiy Panarin had a stunning 2015/2016 NHL campaign, and deservedly took the Calder Trophy for the league's top rookie. Line partner Patrick Kane wasn't bad either, and he was awarded with the Art Ross Trophy. Patrick himself even noted that Artyom played a big role in his success, and Artemiy agreed.
Also, Artyom helped Artemiy not only on the ice, but outside the rink too. Artyom assisted his line mate in learning English, and even took an interview with him. During the season, Artyom racked up 42 points himself (20+22).
Gives his all for the team
At the triumphant 2014 World Championship, it's no secret that Artyom played with a broken finger. Nevertheless, it didn't stop him from becoming a world champion and tallying up 4 points (1+3).
You can see Artyom play with your own eyes at the pre World Cup of Hockey friendly between Russia and the Czech Republic on the 8th of September in Saint Petersburg. Purchase a ticket right now.
