Five Ivan Telegin facts

22.08.2016

The Russia - Czech Republic World Cup of Hockey warm-up friendly is approaching! Read more about HC CSKA Moscow and Russian national team forward Ivan Telegin, who is one of three KHL players included in the tournament roster:

A Russian bull

While playing in the OHL for Sagino, Ivan was known for his physical strength. He was so famous, that he was even spotted on a billboard with the words "Have you seen this Russian bull?".

Also, Ivan was regularly recognised on the street, and when not on the ice, he played golf and ice hockey video games.

Gamer

However, later on, it became known that Ivan is a lover of not just only sporting video games. In August 2016, Ivan was spotted at the final of the League of Legends in Moscow, and he stated that sometimes less fans come to ice hockey matches. He admitted that he enjoys watching other players compete on gamed consoles.

A key playoff player

In the 2015/2016 KHL regular season, Ivan played in 41 games and took only nine points (6+3). Nevertheless, he was just getting himself ready for the playoffs. He made 18 appearances in the post-season, and managed to tally up eight points.

Revealation at the World Championship

Not too many people knew about Ivan's talents before the 2016 World Championship, but he certainly announced himself on to the big stage during the tournament. RIHF president Vladislav Tretyak was full of praise for the forward, and hailed his efforts in both attack and defence.

Recovered from a serious injury

Earlier on in his career, Ivan received a serious injury while playing for the Winnipeg Jets' farm club. As a result, Ivan couldn't take to the ice for an entire year. Such a terrible event could have ruined any other player's career, but Ivan proved his strength, and came back even stronger.
