Young athletes from the Donbass attended an NMHL match

18.09.2023
As part of the regular championship of the National Junior Hockey League (NMHL), which is held under the auspices of the Russian Ice Hockey Federation, the management of the HC Yunison Moscow organised a trip to the Russian capital for the opening matches of the season for 40 young athletes from the Donetsk People's Republic.

In addition to developing ice hockey in the capital, Yunison Moscow president Alexander Klimenko is also striving to develop the sport in the Donbass, his native region. As part of the monthly grant program, the club finances martial arts training for more than 200 children. This is how the club’s management supports children’s desire to participate in sport by providing a free opportunity to train for everyone.

This program to support young athletes from the Donbass has now existed for more than three years.

All 40 athletes who visited Moscow this weekend are winners of Russian and international competitions. As a reward for their hard work, courage and sporting success, the management of Yunison Moscow organised this trip for the children. Alongside attending the two games between Yunison Moscow and Metallurg Vologda Region, the up-and-coming athletes were also treated to a tour of Red Square, a visit to Moskvarium and a master-class at Luzhniki complex with the participation of famous athletes who travelled from Sochi for the event.

"Of course, we would like all children to enjoy our matches here in Moscow, and we are doing everything in order to make this happen," stated Yunison Moscow president Klimenko. "However, just like in any sporting family, we are teaching children to work hard and put the effort in. We think that their personal victories should serve as a reason for their trip to Moscow."
