Russia have lost for the first time on penalty shots in 92 friendly matches.
For the fifteenth time, Russia and the Czech Republic went all the way to the shootout. We have eight victories compared to the Czechs' seven. Our team have played in 57 penalty shootouts overall, and 30 of them have been either against the Czech Republic or Finland.
Semyon Varlamov made his 30th Russian national team appearance, and this was his first shootout defeat with the side.
