The RIHF and Liga Stavok commemorated the end of the 2022/2023 season
03.07.2023
In Moscow, the "We are Together" family event was organised by the Russian Ice Hockey Federation (RIHF) to mark the completion of the 2022/2023 campaign. Coaches and players of the Russia 25 team, NHL stars, legends of Russian ice hockey and the management of the RIHF attended the ceremony which was held at the Evropeysky Hall in the capital.
President of the RIHF Vladislav Tretiak:
- The RIHF will do everything to ensure the future development of ice hockey in our country. The Liga Stavok Big National Team Tour was a true ice hockey celebration, with our matches being sold out and the fans receiving a wonderful experience. The next generation of players in Russia boasts a bright future. I would like to thank our Liga Stavok, Gazprom and Alexei Miller and Nornickel and Vladimir Potanin for their fantastic support.
As a result of winning the Liga Stavok Big National Team Tour in May, representatives of Russia 25 were presented with medals and special gifts.
First vice-president of the RIHF and Russia 25 head coach Roman Rotenberg:
- It was a really tough series for us against Belarus, we had to fly on a regular basis and there weren't many breaks between the games. I'm proud of our guys, they gave 100% and did their best to emerge victorious. We hadn't expected that so many people would watch our matches, but 12 million tuned in when we were playing! This really is a superb result. Today's event is connecting generations, with our legendary veterans inspiring us to achieve future victories. We are all grateful to our sponsors Liga Stavok, Gazprom and Alexei Miller and Nornickel and Vladimir Potanin, they are helping us greatly to achieve success. Futhermore, I would like to thank the journalists and fans for their incredible support.
An important part of the evening was honouring veterans who have set the triumphant traditions of ice hockey in Russia. During the event, valuable archival records were displayed in which important milestones throughout the history of Russian ice hockey were explained. Moreover, the veterans in attendance were given gifts and awards from Liga Stavok.
Furthermore, Boris Mayorov's record for the fastest brace scored in an official match was immortalized; in 1967, he managed to tally two goals against Metallurg for Spartak Moscow after a mere 22 seconds of play.
President of Liga Stavok Yury Kraskovsky:
- This is a brilliant event which is connecting generations. We all know that without the foundations which were laid in the past, there is no future. We're very proud of our young stars, we watched all of our matches in the Liga Stavok Big National Team Tour and supported the players. It was a highly successful tournament which attracted a lot of viewers. I would like to thank the RIHF, the players, coaches and Roman Rotenberg for the team's wonderful performances. The guys promised us that we will win Olympic gold again in the future. We are together to win!
