Roman Rotenberg, the first vice-president of the Russian Ice Hockey Federation and the head coach of Russia 25, participated in the Saint Petersburg International Economic Forum.
He was involved in the discussion concerning the "Sport in the New Reality: From Competition to Product" topic.
During his speech, Rotenberg spoke about the Liga Stavok Big National Team Tour and 3-on-3 ice hockey:
“Both products have shown incredible results and exceeded our expectations, with almost 208 million people watching 3-on-3 ice hockey and 183.5 million tuning into the national team's matches,” he said. "We created opportunities for the development of our athletes and involved people in sports. Each match provided the fans with unforgettable emotions. Therefore, it is extremely important for us that the team visited different regions of our country, namely Chelyabinsk and Krasnoyarsk. The arenas were 99% full for our games!"
Rotenberg pointed out the importance of the support offered by Gazprom:
"A great help for us was the system and culture which we built with the support of Gazprom over several years with SKA Saint Petersburg. SKA's system and culture are being implemented at all levels from youth ice hockey to professional teams. At the moment, the SKA Academy boasts 11 schools and almost 3,000 pupils who study ice hockey according to the SKA system and the Red Machine National Development Program."
In conclusion, he thanked the governing bodies for their assistance:
"All of this became possible thanks to the fantastic support offered by Alexei Miller, Vladimir Potanin, Yuri Krasovsky and their companies. It's vital that the leading Russian companies support sports and invest in new formats of sporting competitions which the public are interested in. Many thanks to all the participants of the “Sport in the New Reality” session: Oleg Matytsin, Yuri Krasovsky, Dmitry Chernyshenko, Ksenia Shoigu, Elena Vyalba, Alina Zagitova, Nikita Nagornykh, Igor Stolyarov, Dmitry Dobrovolsky, Alexey Pchelkin and Dmitry Ryzhkov."
