Reaction after beating Saint Petersburg at the Sirius Cup
11.06.2023
After beating Saint Petersburg 4:1 at the Sirius Cup, head coach of the under 16 Russian national team Pavel Kanarsky spoke to the media:
Russia U16 head coach Pavel Kanarsky:
- This was a solid performance from our point of view. The opponents initially started well, but we managed to keep them at bay before we ourselves started to take advantage of our scoring opportunities. We competed with the initiative and controlled the tempo. However, we subsequently began to lose our discipline and relaxed too much. To be honest, we could have won this game a lot more calmly. Yes, we conceded when playing 3-on-5, but overall I was impressed with our penalty killing. On the other hand, we need to improve on the powerplay.
