Russia - Sweden. A statistical look

In all 42 Canada Cup and World Cup of Hockey matches, USSR/Russia have always found the net. Yesterday's goal, 33 seconds before the final buzzer, became the latest time at which the country has scored its first goal in a World Cup match.

The overall record belongs to Sergei Makarov, who netted at 59:41 on the 10th of September of 1984 during a 6:3 USSR victory against Canada.

Russia is the only country to score in every Canada Cup/World Cup fixture.

This was the sixth time that Russia and Sweden played against each other at this tournament. Russia have three victory compared to Sweden's two, while another finished in a draw. The goal difference is 21 - 18 in Russia's favour.

In the 675th match, the team dropped its 200th defeat in regulation time.  Half of them have been against Sweden and Finland.
