Interviews after playing North America
Sergei Bobrovsky, Russian national team goaltender:
- During the final moments of the game, I felt calm. I would like to say thank you to my teammates for their help, we fought for each other really hard today.
- When was the last time that you played two days in a row?
- At the 2016 World Championship against Kazakhstan and Latvia. We won then too. It's the start of the season, and I feel great physically.
- How tough was it to make over 40 saves?
- The opponents made me work. It's a real challenge to play against the likes of Sweden and North America. It was a tense game today and after losing to Sweden, we had nothing to lose. We had a fantastic match.
- Were you worried when North America had a five on three?
- Those minutes were the most important.
Artemiy Panarin, Russian national team forward:
- We didn't play that well in the first period. However, in the second, the true Russian national team was on the ice. I would like to thank Sergei Bobrovsky for this win, if he hadn't had played so well, the score would have been different.
- The opponents kept trying to provoke Russia.
- Ice hockey is an emotional game. The guys did a good job, we stuck to the game plan and won.
- How did you feel when you were in the penalty box with Artyom Anisimov?
- I thought that two Chicago players had ruined the game for Russia! I'm joking, of course. In reality, we were really nervous. The other players saved the day.
- Did the line changes help spark the team into life?
- Yes, I think so. In the second period, we started playing our style of ice hockey and attacked hard.
- Are you satisfied with your ice time?
- I am always pleased with my minutes.
- Can we say that the second period marked the birth of this team?
- The team returned! We started to attack more. I think that all of us enjoyed this match, the fans, the coaches. Hopefully, we will carry on in the same manner in the next game.
- What can you say about Finland, the team's next opponents?
- We have only just finished playing North America, we need tme to recover and rest. Russia and Finland meet on a regular basis, we will listen to what the coaches have to say.
