The Russian women's national team played the first of their five scheduled matches in America against Boston Pride.
These matches will be a tough test for head coach Alexei Chistaykov's women, with Boston prevailing in this one 5:1. Ekaterina Nikolaeva scored Russia's only goal on the powerplay during the first period.
Russia's second game will take place against the New York Riveters.
