Vladislav Tretiak visited Samara and held a meeting with Dmitry Azarov

President of the Russian Ice Hockey Federation (RIHF) Vladislav Tretiak and the governor of Samara Region Dmitry Azarov held a meeting in which they discussed matters concerning the development of ice hockey in the region.

The pair also participated in the grand opening of the Tretiak Cup for teams consisting of players born in 2012. Furthermore, Tretiak presented Azarov with the "For Dedication to Ice Hockey" award before they attended the Krylya Sovetov Samara - Lokomotiv Moscow match in the Russian Premier League.

- I would like to thank Dmitry Azarov for the fact that he pays so much attention to ice hockey in Samara Region. Thanks to his efforts, the region is achieving success in all aspects including the development of infrastructure. Today, we opened the Tretiak Cup which is being staged at a superb new arena. Before this arena was constructed, a really old stadium stood in its place. I had even competed at the previous arena during my playing career! Dmitry followed through with his promise that a new stadium would be constructed at this location. With the support of the RIHF, the region also managed to gain federal financing. In our meeting, Dmitry asked for us to stage a match with the involvement of the Russian national team here at this arena, and I promised him that the RIHF will consider this request. The region deserves to see our national team play! We also have to note that Lada Tolyatti will once again compete in the KHL in the upcoming 2023/2024 campaign. In the football game, Krylya Sovetov managed to earn a draw against a strong Lokomotiv team. Dmitry said that I had provided the team luck with my presence!
