Russia U17 are the World Challenge Cup bronze medalists!

06.11.2016

In the concluding match of the World Challenge Cup in Sault Ste. Marie, Canada, the under 17 Russian national team faced Canada White in their third place playoff.

Despite still reeling from the disappointing semi-final shootout loss to Canada Black yesterday, our players made a strong start against another Canadian opponent. Canada White were slow out of the blocks, and superb goals from Alexander Khovanov, Andrei Svechnikov and Pavel Rotenberg gave Russia a 3:0 lead.

Andrei Svechnikov added another, before Canada White did get one of their own on the board. Nevertheless, it wasn't going to change the tide, as late goals from Yegor Sokolov and Alexei Drobin sealed a 6:1 win to take the bronze medal!

Match protocol:

Russia U17 - Canada White - 6:1 (3:0, 1:1, 2:0)

Goals:

1:0 Khovanov (Svechnikov, Zhilyakov), 03.27

2:0 Svechnikov, 03.40
