After two wins in the opening three matches of the CIBC Canada Russia Series, the under 20 Russian national team made the trip to Hamilton for the upcoming fourth game which will take place on Monday. It will be the second, and final, fixture against the OHL this year.
Mikhail Sergachyov, Artur Tyanulin, Nikita Korostelev and Dmitry Sokolov, who all play in the OHL, have been sent back to their league clubs. As a result, only the 23 players taken from Russia by head coach Valery Bragin have been training. They worked out in these following lines:
Goalkeepers: K. Volkov, Krasotkin, Sukhachyov.
Reds: Y. Zaitsev, Petrischev - Al. Volkov, Kvartalnov, Urakov;
Whites: Fazylzyanov, Dronov - Yurtaikin, Alexeev, Kirkunenko;
Greens: Chmykhov, Schemerov - Li, Belyaev, Dynyak;
Blues: Fatkullin, Ar. Volkov - Kostin, Rubtsov, Karnaukhov.
After lunch, the team went to visit the Niagara Falls. Later on in the evening, the players had the opportunity to watch the Bulldogs CHL team in action.
Artyom Chmykhov, Russia U20 defenseman:
- It was great going to the Niagara Falls. I had already been there before, but it was nice to get a distraction from all of the travelling. Before leaving for Canada, I spoke with other CSKA players who had already competed in the Super Series, and they said that there is a high level of ice hockey and that we have a friendly, close atmosphere within the group. We are all friends! We all have the same goal and want to play at the World Championship. The coach will decide who to take.
