Reaction after the Russia U20 Reds defeated Belarus

26.05.2022
Following the 5:3 victory against the under 20 Belarusian national team at the 2022 Black Sea Cup, Russia U20 Reds senior coach Alexander Titov and forwards Raul Yakupov and Ilya Fedotov shared their feelings.

Senior coach Alexander Titov:

- We had analysed how the Russia U20 Whites competed against Belarus yesterday. I want to thank our guys for their commitment, they played the right way. There were some nerves in the first period, but the players subsequently improved. We played well, scoring good goals on the powerplay too. In the closing stages, the team showed commitment to block plenty of shots.

Forward Raul Yakupov:

- It was wonderful to score two goals. However, I would like to thank my teammates for this, I'm not playing on my own. In truth, we could have played better. We worked hard in the gym and on our tactics before the competition, we are in good shape. Everything is at the highest level.

Forward Ilya Fedotov:

- We dominated the whole game. We conceded some cheap goals, but we held on in the third period. It will be interesting to play against the Russia U20 Reds, we all know each other and we want to show our best ice hockey. Do I feel the pressure as a consequence of being the team captain? No, it's a big honour to be the captain of the national team.
