The under 18 Russian national team defeated Slovakia 7:2 in the final of the 2021 Hlinka Gretzky Cup to win the competition for the second consecutive time!
Ivan Miroshnichenko, Andrei Malyavin and Semyon Sinyatkin all hit the jackpot during the first period to immediately put our players in the box seat. In the early stages of the second, the Slovaks did manage to get on the board, but subsequent goals from Miroshnichenko and Mikhail Gulyaev virtually put the game out of sight after 40 minutes.
Ilya Rogovsky and Matvei Michkov - with an empty-netter - sealed the deal in the third frame.
Russia had previously won the tournament in 1991, 1993, 1995 and 2019.
