Nerves jangle as Russia U20 outlast SHL!

16.05.2026
It certainly wasn't straightforward by any means, but the under 20 Russian national team just managed to defeat an outfit representing the Student Hockey League (SHL) by a slender score of 3:2 at the Sibir Arena.

This does indeed mean that it's two wins from two at the Future Cup for our players.

Maxim Ilyin had initially given Russia the advantage, before the opponents then took a shock lead.

Nonetheless, with Alexander Zharovsky and Dmitry Isayev netting in the closing stages, our team did eventually get the job done.

The decisive game of the tournament will take place tomorrow against Belarus U20. Puck-drop is scheduled for 13:30 Moscow time.
