Interviews after Russia Whites' defeat to Latvia

27.05.2017

Russia Whites head coach Yury Babenko:

- What didn't go well? The whole game. I didn't enjoy a lot in this match. Maybe, because of Russia Reds' 6:2 victory against Latvia yesterday, our players thought that this match would be easy. They didn't give their all right from the start. In my opinion, the mindset for this fixture was bad. Some of the players do not understand that there are no simple games at this level. It was interesting playing 3 on 3 overtime, it decreases the possibility of penalty shots. At the end of the extra frame, the team lost concentration.

Russia Whites forward Pavel Kukshtel:

- We spend the entire overtime period in Latvia's zone, but we simply couldn't score. In the end, we conceded a disappointing goal to lose the game. All of the guys understood that this will be a difficult match, I can't say that Latvia surprised us at all. I didn't expect to be named captain, however I am trying my best. Nevertheless, when you lose, you take the responsibility. We played two matches against Russia Reds before this competition started, they were both close affairs. We want to win. In order to come out on top, we need to crash the net harder.
