2018 World Championship. Russia - France - 7:0
04.05.2018
The senior Russian national team started the 2018 World Championship with a large 7:0 victory against France in Denmark.
Interim head coach Ilya Vorobyov put Kirill Kaprizov, Pavel Datsyuk and Evgeny Dadonov together in the first line, handing Vasily Koshechkin the position as starting goaltender.
Our players made a fast and furious start against the French, opening the scoring within eight minutes as Kirill Kaprizov lashed a powerful one timer into the net from the doorstep. With a man's advantage, Russia quickly doubled the lead, with Pavel Buchnevich clinically potting a juicy rebound at point blank range. Evgeny Dadonov rounded a fantastic first period with a third marker, netting when unmarked on the crease.
In complete control of proceedings, our team slowed the tempo in the second stanza, but still grabbed a fourth goal in the latter stages of the frame. Pavel Datsyuk dished a wonderful pass to the onrushing Kirill Kaprizov, who deftly tipped beyond Florian Hardy.
France swapped goaltender Florian Hardy for Roman Quemener in the third period, however it made little difference. Alexander Barabanov's pass was inadvertently deflected into the net by a French stick, before Maxim Shalunov and Artyom Anisimov registered two late powerplay goals to cap a huge 7:0 win against the French!
