The U16 Sirius Cup has come to an end

The U16 Sirius Cup came to a close in Sochi on Thursday, with Russia Whites 1 overcoming the Whites 2 3:2 in overtime.

However, regardless of this result, Russia Reds had already secured first place of the standings.

The Whites 1 opened up a confident two-goal advantage in the maiden frame, before the Whites 2 hauled themselves on level terms in the third.

Nonetheless, the Whites 1 weren't to be denied, with Matvei Akishkin grabbing the all-important winner midway through the extra set of five minutes.

"We started the game well, but we relaxed too much in the third period and paid the price. Despite that setback, we continued playing and fighting hard. Our teamwork and determined attitude allowed us to score the decisive marker in overtime.

"The training camp overall? The coaches controlled the process excellently with professionalism. We held interesting theory lessons, worked out in the gym and trained effectively on the ice. This was a fantastic experience!"
