3x3 Sirius Cup

The 3x3 Sirius Cup was contested among U16 Russian national teams in Sochi.

Russia Whites 2 earned the bronze medal, edging past the Whites 1 by a slender score of 3:2.

Russia Whites 2 forward Radmil Timurshin:

"This was the first time when I played 3-on-3 hockey! To be honest, the format is even tougher: instead of simply playing in an individual manner, you have to make neat passing plays with your teammates in order to confuse the opponents. For my goal, Alexander Kotov managed to pick me out with his pass. This experience will help me gain confidence when playing in defence and trying to keep track of the opposing forwards."

Subsequently, in the grand final, the Blues required two late markers to sneak their way to first position, beating the Reds 2:1 in dramatic fashion.

Russia Blues forward Amir Khafizov:

"I had played 3-on-3 at the Spartakiada, so this format isn't something new to me. Furthermore, we had already played in a few 3-on-3 tournaments this season. The toughest aspect is that there's more space available on the ice, meaning that you have to skate more and try to not lose your opponents. You also need to handle the puck well and display strong technical skills."

Russia Reds forward Timur Asyukov:

"I really enjoy playing 3-on-3. When I scored my goal, I managed to escape the opponents' press. You always have to press a lot when competing in this format.

"The training camp overall? Our sessions both on and off the ice are effective and enjoyable. The experience which we're receiving is of great value!"
