Alexei Chistyakov is the new head coach of the women's national team

The Russian Ice Hockey Federation have confirmed the new head coach of the women's national team. Alexei Chistyakov, manager of HC Tornado Moscow Region, has been trusted with the post. The contract has been signed for one year.

Ex head coach Mikhail Chekanov, whose contract has run out, will now work as the RIHF's president advisor for women's ice hockey.

Played for Torpedo Yaroslavl, SKA Khabarovsk, Metallurg Cherepovets, Dizelist Penza, Kristall Elektrostal, Vityaz Podolsk, Neftyanik Almetevsk

Came through Lesgaft coaching school

Has been head coach of HC Tornado since 2007, was in the national team's coaching staff between 2009 and 2012, and worked with the junior national side in 2014, 2015 and 2016
