Women's World Junior Championship. Bronze medal game. Russia - Sweden

14.01.2017

On the 14th of January, the under 18 Russian women's national team will take on Sweden in the 2017 World Junior Championship bronze medal game.

After beating the Czech Republic 2:0 in the first playoff round, our girls were taken back down to earth against the USA, losing to their American opponents 0:6. However, Nina Pirogova and Oksana Bratischeva, who both served a suspension for that game, are eligible to take part in today's match.

It was a similar story for Sweden, who were given no chance by Canada in their semi-final fixture, eventually going down 2:6. These two teams did meet in the group stage, with Russia earning an important 2:1 penalty shootout triumph.

The Russia - Sweden match will begin at 18:00 Moscow time in the Czech Republic.
