Reaction after the women's friendly match against Switzerland

29.03.2017

Russian women's national team head coach Alexei Chistyakov:

- Not everything went well for us in this match. We underestimated the opponents and our forwards didn't play well. The players also took too many penalties. When the opposing goalkeeper dislodges the net seven times, our girls start to lose their cool. The penalties led up to conceding goals.

Concentration has to be kept in defence during the entire game. We conceded poor goals in this match. Nevertheless, there is still time before the World Championship to analyse our mistakes and put them right. There is a good atmosphere within the team, everyone is focused on making conclusions and moving on.

Russian women's national team goalkeeper Nadezhda Alexandrova:

- Everything is fine, the girls played well. However, having not played for a while, we found it difficult getting into the game. After we came out of our shell, we began taking penalties.

- How many minutes did you spend on the penalty kill?

- A lot of the time we were shorthanded! I didn't count though. On the other hand, it's good that we were able to train our special teams. Friendly games are really useful in that respect.

- Did you underestimate the opponents?

- No, but we were lacking game practice.

- Your opposing goalkeeper kept knocking the net of its moorings.

- I think that she did it on purpose, the net was fine. She did a good job of covering her actions up.
