Reaction after winning the 2022 Liga Stavok St. Petersburg Cup

08.05.2022
Following the tense 3:2 victory over Belarus in the final of the 2022 Liga Stavok St. Petersburg Cup, senior Russian national team head coach Sergei Zubov and forwards Marat Khusnutdinov and Nikita Tertyshny shared their feelings.

Head coach Sergei Zubov:

- Thank you to our players for this tournament, they came here and gave their all. Furthermore, I would like to thank the fans in Saint Petersburg for their wonderful support, we felt that we were playing for our country. The start of the game was rather difficult for us, but after conceding two goals we improved and found the key to winning. Goalkeeper Dmitry Nikolaev made a lot of passes? He is very good at that aspect of the game. Yes, there was one incident where he didn't make a clean play, but he quickly made up for that.

Forward Marat Khusnutdinov:

- It was a good match, our supporters roared us on. I am happy that we gave our fans this tournament to enjoy. This is a team win, thank you to our guys for this competition. I will miss these guys in the team, we managed to create a great group in a short space of time. Thank you to the Russian Ice Hockey Federation for organising this tournament.

Forward Nikita Tertyshny:

- This atmosphere inside the Yubileyny Arena was fantastic from start to finish! We had a few problems at the start of this match, but we managed to get back on level terms and subsequently emerge victorious. I think that the fans enjoyed this win.
