The women's senior national team have started World Championship preparations

On April 11, the senior Russian women's national team began a training camp in Novogorsk in preparation for the upcoming 2021 IIHF Women's World Championship.

These following 28 players (three goaltenders, 10 defenders, 15 forwards) have been called up:

Goalkeepers: Valeria Merkusheva (SKIF), Nadezhda Morozova (Dynamo-Neva), Anna Prugova (Agidel).

Defenders: Ekaterina Ananina, Angelina Goncharenko, Elena Provorova (all SKIF), Maria Batalova, Maria Pechnikova, Anna Shibanova (Agidel), Liana Ganeeva, Yuliya Smirnova (both Dynamo-Neva), Nina Pirogova, Anna Savonina (both Tornado).

Forwards: Alexandra Vafina (KRS Vanke Rays), Elena Dergachyova, Anna Shokhina (both Tornado), Ekaterina Dobrodeeva, Valeria Pavlova (both Biryusa), Fanuza Kadirova (Dynamo-Neva), Veronika Korzhakova, Ilona Markova, Elizaveta Rodnova, Olga Sosina (all Agidel), Viktoria Kulishova, Ekaterina Likhachyova, Elena Malinovskaya, Landysh Falyakhova (all SKIF), Kristi Shashkina (Zurich).

The team will begin training after completing all quarantine procedures. On April 22, the team will fly to Canada, where another quarantine period and more tests will be held. A friendly match will be staged against the USA on May 4.

The 2021 Women's World Championship will be held between the 6th and 16th of May in Halifax and Truro (Canada). Russia will compete in Group A against Switzerland, Finland, Canada and America.

May 10, 21:30, USA - Russia
May 11, 21:30, Russia - Finland

*All start times are in accordance with Moscow time

The quarter-finals will subsequently be played on May 13, the semi-finals on May 16 and the medal games on May 16.
