Euro Hockey Tour. Russia - Finland. A statistical look

The Russian Ice Hockey Federation takes a look at the statistics to emerge from the 6:2 triumph over Finland on the road in the maiden match of the 2020/2021 Euro Hockey Tour:
- 6:2 is the largest victory against the Finns at the Karjala Cup since a win by the same score in 2008;
- For the first time in history, 20 players made their respective debuts for the senior Russian national team at the same time. Only captain Vasily Podkolzin had previously played for the senior national side;
- All six scorers tallied their maiden goals for the senior national team, while a further four players dished out their maiden assists. 10 players picking up their first points for the national team in one match is a new record;
- Seven players under the age of 19 is also a new record for the country's senior national team;
- At the age of 18 years, four months and 20 days, goalkeeper Yaroslav Askarov became the youngest goalkeeper to make his debut for the senior Russian national team. The previous record was held by Andrei Vasilevskiy when 18 years, eight months and 12 days old. Nevertheless, the Soviet record held by Vladislav Tretiak after making his maiden appearance when only 17 years, seven months and eight years of age on 3 December 1969 is still yet to be beaten;
- At the age of 18 years and 14 days, Daniil Chayka became the youngest defenseman to make his debut for the country's senior national team;
- By scoring a goal at the age of 18 years, three months and 19 days, forward Marat Khusnutdinov became the second youngest scorer for the senior national team. The record belongs to fellow forward Alexander Ovechkin who tallied his first marker for his nation when 17 years, 11 months and 21 days of age.
