2019 World Championship. Sweden - Russia - 4:7

In the seventh, and final, match of the 2019 IIHF World Championship group stage, the senior Russian national team defeated Sweden 7:4 to clinch first place ahead of the quarter-finals!

Initially, Gabriel Landeskog opened the scoring in the opening period, but Artyom Anisimov, Evgeny Dadonov, Alexander Ovechkin, Kirill Kaprizov, Mikhail Grigorenko and Evgeny Malkin all netted during a stunning second frame for Russia.

In the third, William Nylander, Oliver Ekman-Larsson and John Klingberg grabbed consolation goals for the Swedes, while Dmitry Orlov grabbed Russia's seventh. Goalkeeper Andrei Vasilevskiy stopped 33 of 37 Swedish shots.

Russia will take on the USA in the quarter-final at 17:15 Moscow time on Thursday.
