Forwards Alexander Radulov and Vladislav Namestnikov will arrive in Russia next week where they will undergo medical testing before a decision is made on their participation in World Championships preparation. Forward Ilya Kovalchuk cannot take part in the 2018 World Championship. This is a joint decision of the player and management group which was made because of his tough season in the KHL and participation in the Olympic Games.
Forwards Ivan Barbashyov and Sergei Plotnikov are injured and cannot play for the national team.
Defenseman Viktor Antipin, who received an injury (concussion) sustained in one of the last NHL regular season matches for the Buffalo Sabres, travelled to Novogorsk. However, after conversing with team doctors, the decision was taken for Viktor to miss the World Championship.
Russia will play Sweden in Yaroslavl on April 19 (20:00) in the Czech Hockey Games, before playing Finland on April 21 (19:15) and the Czech Republic on April 22 (15:20) in Pardubice.
