World Championship. Russia - Norway
Today on the 16th of May, the Russian national team will take on Norway for the sixth game of the 2016 IIHF World Championship group stage against Norway.
Not long ago during the World Championship preparation stage, these two teams met for two Euro Hockey Challenge matches in Saint Petersburg, and Russia took a hard fought victory on both occasions 2:1 OT and 4:1 respectively. Nevertheless, the rosters have much changes since then, and and both sides have been bolstered with NHL players.
Norway have had an up and down campaign so far, and have two wins against Switzerland 4:3 OT and Kazakhstan 4:2. They gave Sweden a real run for their money on Saturday narrowly losing 2:3, however that defeat has left them three points adrift of a quarter-final spot. Their main player to look out for will be New York Rangers forward Mats Zuccarello.
Our team are on a fantastic run of form, and took down the Swiss 5:1 two days ago to make it four victories in a row. Vadim Shipachyov is the competition's joint top scorer with 10 points (3+7).
