Vladislav Tretiak held a meeting with the Governor of Omsk Region
30.03.2026
During his time in Omsk, President of the Russian Ice Hockey Federation, Vladislav Tretiak, held a meeting with the Governor of Omsk Region, Vitaly Khotsenko.
The parties discussed the current issues which Russian ice hockey is facing, upcoming events and future cooperation plans between Omsk Region and the RIHF with regard to various development options.
RIHF President Vladislav Tretiak:
"Omsk Region is one of our country's main ice hockey development centres! Ice hockey is indeed making good progress, with all three of their KHL, VHL and MHL teams having qualified for the playoffs of their respective competitions. Attendances are growing, while the infrastructure is constantly improving.
"One of the key factors is the Governor's dedication. Vitaly is working hard to develop regional sport, with a particular focus on ice hockey. He sets a good example for other regions by creating excellent conditions in a wide range of areas and aspects of training. It was the Governor who organised the renovation of the oldest ice rink which is named after Viktor Blinov, attracting strong partners and ensuring that the process was completed efficiently and promptly.
"Ice rinks are popping up not only in the regional capital but also in rural areas. A useful program has been launched to train coaches who will be able to teach hockey locally. This paves the way for even greater participation growth. Furthermore, it's worth noting that the climate here in Omsk makes it possible to engage in ice hockey outdoors for a large chunk of the year!
"Our national team competed in Omsk in 2014, with the event staged at the highest level and all participants left with wonderful memories to look back on. We also have new exciting competitions and joint projects ahead. We're effectively collaborating in the areas of youth sport, education for coaches and other areas of training. Together with Omsk Region, our joint efforts create top conditions for allowing us to engage the younger population to get involved."
