Valeri Kamensky, Sergei Fyodorov and Nikolai Ozerov have entered the IIHF Hall of Fame
On Sunday the 22nd of May, Valeri Kamensky, Sergei Fyodorov and Nikolai Ozerov were all introduced into the IIHF Hall of Fame.
Valeri Kamensky:
- Thank you to the IIHF for this award. It's an honour for me to be put alongside such wonderful players, and I am grateful to my family, teammates and fans.
Sergei Fyodorov:
- I am very proud to be a member of this ceremony. I am happy, that my life has been connected with ice hockey, and I am thankful to my parents, especially my father, and my wife. I have played with a number of great players, and thank you to everyone who has been with me since I made my first steps on the ice.
Commentator Nikolai Ozerov, who was the voice of Soviet ice hockey, was handed with the Paul Loicq award. His daughter Nadezhda gave this speech after accepting the prize from Viktor Gusev:
- On behalf of our family, i would like to thank the IIHF for remembering my father. He loved ice hockey, and he did a lot for its development in the country. Thank you to the IIHF for recognising this.
These other famous ice hockey players and coaches were also included in the Hall of Fame:
- Famous coach Pat Quinn, who died last year.
- Ville Peltonen, assistant to the Finnish national team head coach.
- Ben Smith, coach who won the Olympic bronze medals with the USA women's national team in 1998.
- Peter Bondra, Slovak ice hockey legend.
The late Gabor Ocskay has become the first Hungarian to become a member of the IIHF Hall of Fame after he was given the Richard Torriani prize. Members of his family were present.
