Reaction after beating Denmark at the World Junior Championship
Russia U20 head coach Valery Bragin:
- The quarter-final stage is key: either you go home, or you stay and fight for a medal. I am really pleased that the guys treated this game seriously, they gave everything and the result is on the scoreboard. We were shorthanded a lot, but overall, we were organised and put emphasis on our performance in our own zone. However, in the semi-final, we have to be even more organised.
Russia U20 goalkeeper Ilya Samsonov:
- It was a good game from start to finish, thanks to the guys for this. They moved great, blocked a lot of shots and kept it together. It's tough when you don't have a lot of shots to face, it doesn't happen very often. It means that you have to keep your concentration even more. Switzerland and the USA are both good teams, we will travel to Montreal in a positive mood.
Russia U20 forward Kirill Kaprizov:
- It's important that we scored two quick goals. I wasn't surprised about Alexander Polunin's goal, he's scored similar goals before. My teammates gave me great passes for my goals, I simply had to hit the target. We played well, despite making a few mistakes. Thanks go to Ilya Samsonov, he made saves at key moments. Now, we need to rest and prepare for the semi-final.
