Vladimir Yurzinov's seminar in Glazov
On the 20th of January, ahead of the NMHL Generation Cup, honoured Russian ice hockey coach Vladimir Yurzinov held a seminar. Ice hockey coaches from all around the region were in attendance.
The attendees were show video material from the World Cup of Hockey, Channel One Cup and the World Junior Championship. Issues such as training of players for major tournaments and technical aspects of the game were discussed.
Honoured USSR and Russian ice hockey coach Vladimir Yurzinov:
- Coming to Glazov, it was like taking a step back in time, I felt that I was in my younger days. I am really happy to be in Glazov, one of the first cities in the country to have an ice hockey centre. It's great that so many coaches have come here, and it's very important that the grassroots of ice hockey will be worked over. We should create a system which attracts children to ice hockey.
HC Progress senior coach Mikhail Kuznetsov:
- This is the first time I have taken part in a seminar of such a high level, I am enjoying it. We spoke about the Russian junior national team's goals at the World Championship, analysed each episode. Then, afterwards, Vladimir Yurzinov spoke to us about Alexei Yashin, Artyom Anisimov and many other players who he coached in the past. In order for a player to progress, he should play a number of sports, no matter what level you play at or your age.
