The seventh season of the Student Hockey League has started!

At the Hockey City complex in Saint Petersburg, the annual Student Hockey League Opening Cup was held.

Six teams representing Saint Petersburg, Moscow, the Central Federal Region, the Volga Federal Region, the Ural Federal Region and the Siberian Federal Region participated in the competition. The Volga Federal Region emerged victorious as a consequence of winning all of their five matches.

The Central Federal Region and Saint Petersburg completed the top three.

These following individual awards were dished out:

Most Valuable Player: Daniil Pyanov (Volga)
Best Goalkeeper: Igor Koynov (Saint Petersburg)
Best Defenseman: Mikhail Makin (Central)
Best Forward: Roman Khamzin (Ural)
Top Scorer: Rail Sharipov (Volga)
Most Spectacular Player: Maxim Lyalin (Moscow)

The tournament was supported by the Ministry of Education and Science of Russia, the Russian Ice Hockey Federation, the Russian Student Sporting Union, the Committee for Physical Culture and Sport of Saint Petersburg and the Saint Petersburg Hockey Federation.
