Friendly match. Latvia - Russian Olympic team - 0:5

The Russian Olympic (B) national team played their first friendly match against Latvia in Riga. Head coach Oleg Bratash opted to give young goalkeeper Andrei Kareev the start in net in place of CSKA Moscow's Ilya Sorokin. Janis Kalnins was Latvia's goalkeeper.

Despite Latvia having their senior squad, Russia B made light work of their opponents. Our team managed to find the net twice in the first period, with Anton Burdasov and Ivan Telegin striking in Riga.

Holding the initiative, Russia duly ended the game as a contest in the second stanza. Sergei Shuamkov scored two for himself, while Anatoly Golyshev also got himself on the scoresheet. Andrei Kareev held on for a debut shutout, completing a 5:0 Russian Olympic team triumph! The two teams will face off against each other for a second time tomorrow.
