Friendly match. Russia U18 - Latvia U18 - 2:1
With their World Championship preparations in full flow, the under 18 Russian national team played a friendly match against Latvia in Slovakia. Alexei Lipanov was the captain, while Dmitry Samorukov and Mark Rubinchik were his assistants. Kirill Ustimenko started the match in net.
Russia dominated the opening stages, crashing Latvia's net. However, not being able to take advantage of their domination, Russia conceded midway through the second stanza. That goal went in seconds after Dimitriy Rayko replaced Kirill Ustimenko between the pipes.
Nevertheless, Russia finally made their superiority count in the third frame. Alexei Lipanov equalised, before Yaroslav Alexeev netted the winner with just four minutes remaining. 2:1, Russia beat Latvia!
