World Championship. Finland U18 - Russia U18
On the 22nd of April, the under 18 Russian national team will compete in the World Championship semi-final against Finland.
After finishing in second place of the group, Russia really struggled against Slovakia in the quarter-final stage. Ivan Chekhovich scored his second of the game to equalise in the third period, before Slovakia had a potential winning goal chalked off a few minutes before the final buzzer. It went into overtime, where forward Kirill Slepets scored the deciding goal with just 60 seconds remaining.
Reigning world champions Finland also had a scare against the Czech Republic. The Finns were leading 5:1 at one point, however they allowed their opponents to make it a 5:5 game. Finland eventually got their victory in overtime.
These two met in the quarter-finals last year, as Finland knocked Russia out.
