World Championship. Finland U18 - Russia U18 - 2:1 OT
The under 18 Russian national team took on Finland in the World Championship semi-final.
Having beaten tournament hosts Slovakia 3:2 in a highly dramatic quarter-final, Russia were full of confidence. Our players had the better of the first period, but after failing to score on their chances, Finland's Jesse Ylonen opened the scoring in the second at close range.
Nevertheless, Russia equalised in the third when Kirill Slepets slotted home Alexei Toropchenko's pin point feed. It went into overtime, where the Finns took all the spoils. Toni Utunen blasted a one timer, beating Maxim Zhukov. 1:2, Russia will now play for bronze tomorrow.
