World Championship. Russia U18 - Sweden U18 - 3:0
In Poprad, the under 18 Russian national team completed their World Championship campaign with a third place playoff against Sweden. Head coach Sergei Golubovich made a couple of changes after yesterday's semi-final, replacing Maxim Zhukov in net with Kirill Ustimenko.
Focused on ending the competition with a win, Danila Galenyuk gave Russia a first period lead with a powerplay marker. Forward Andrei Svechnikov doubled the advantage in the second frame, giving Russia a 2:0 scoreline before the decisive third stanza.
Fortunately, despite some strong Swedish player, Kirill Ustimenko held on to his shutout. Kirill Maximov iced it as he hit the empty net, sealing a 3:0 Russian U18 bronze medal triumph!
