Reaction after the first match of the Germany Cup
11.11.2021
Following the first match of the Germany Cup against the tournament hosts (3:4), Russian Olympic national team head coach Igor Larionov and forward Nikita Dynyak spoke to the press:
Russian Olympic team head coach Igor Larionov:
- We started with aggression and speed. However, after we scored two quick goals, we allowed Germany to get back into the game. The Germans are always patient while waiting for counter-attack opportunities, they were strong in defence and used their scoring chances. For the majority of our guys, this was the first game at this level, it will serve as a good experience. We will recover in time to play Slovakia on Saturday.
Russian Olympic team forward Nikita Dynyak:
- We were lacking mutual understanding today, we haven't been training together for a long time. Hopefully, we will improve as the competition progresses. Of course, it's nice for me to play at this level for the national team, all of us in the team tried hard today. We were lacking quality and calm heads in the closing stages of the match.
