Reaction after the third match of the 2021 Sochi Hockey Open
06.08.2021
Following the slender 2:3 loss to HC Sochi in the third match of the 2021 Sochi Hockey Open, Russian Olympic national team head coach Igor Larionov and forward Fyodor Svechkov both shared their opinions:
Head coach Igor Larionov:
- We are making small steps forward, the guys are starting to have fun on the ice despite the tough schedule. Overall, I am happy with their progress, our players are developing in front of our eyes. At this moment in time, the main thing is the performance rather than the result. We want to know which players we can count on. Only one line is scoring? Naturally, we want all of our players to start scoring goals, but it is only August. The level here is higher than the one which they have played at beforehand.
Forward Fyodor Svechkov:
- Thank you to my teammates for giving me a great pass for my goal. On the powerplay, I managed to find Nikita Chibrikov who tallied our second marker. It was a good match for us, with some exceptions. My line with Chibrikov and Marat Khusnutdinov? They've played for SKA previously in one line, and I've been competing with them at our training camp this summer. We will continue to improve as time passes.
