2021 World U18 Championship. Finland - Russia - 4:3 SO

In the second match of the 2021 IIHF World U18 Championship, the under 18 Russian national team came up short against Finland, conceding a narrow 3:4 defeat in a penalty shootout.
Fyodor Svechkov gave Russia the lead in the first period when completing a flowing counter-attack. In the second stanza, the Finns did equalise, but Nikita Chibrikov and Svechkov again hit the jackpot to hand the Russians a two-goal advantage.
However, in the closing three minutes of the ensuing third frame, Finland grabbed two goals to send the game to overtime.
Following a score-less overtime frame, penalty shots were indeed required, and the opponents won the shootout 2:0 to clinch the victory.
Russia will now prepare to face Germany in the third match of the tournament. Puck-drop is scheduled for 00:00 Moscow time on April 30.
