18.12.2020
In Moscow, at the Ice Hockey Museum, the official emblem for the 2023 IIHF World Junior Championship in Novosibirsk and Omsk was presented.
Russian Ice Hockey Federation (RIHF) president Vladislav Tretiak, first RIHF vice-president and Russian national team general manager Roman Rotenberg, Russian Federation Minister of Sport Oleg Matytsin, first deputy chairman of the Russian Federation State Duma federal assembly Alexander Zhukov, governor of Novosibirsk Region Andrei Travnikov and governor of Omsk Region Alexander Burkov all welcomed the guests with speeches.
First RIHF vice-president and Russian national team general manager Roman Rotenberg subsequently unveiled the logo.
RIHF president Vladislav Tretiak:
- The presentation of the official logo of the World Youth Championship, which will be held in 2023 in Novosibirsk and Omsk, is a big celebration for us! On behalf of the RIHF, I would like to thank the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) for putting faith in us to stage this event. In addition to the World Junior Championship, in 2023 we will also host the senior IIHF World Championship, and this is a huge honour for us.
The IIHF and the entire ice hockey community understands that we have extensive experience in holding competitions. We will do our best in order to ensure that the athletes, guests and fans in 2023 will experience a wonderful time at the tournament!
We've seen how Novosibirsk and Omsk are preparing to host the tournament. Many thanks to everyone who is contributing to the preparation process. Our organising committee meeting will be held in February, in which we will outline all the plans.
First RIHF vice-president and Russian national team general manager Roman Rotenberg:
- Today we are delighted to present the logo of a hugely important competition. The staging of the World Junior Championship testifies to the level of development of ice hockey in the country, the training of young ice hockey players and the effectiveness of our system. In recent years, the RIHF has undertaken a large amount of work to ensure that players can train in the best manner possible. We're already seeing that the results of our junior national teams are improving. The training process is based on the Red Machine National Development Program. We're confident that in 2023 the Russian national team will perform at the highest level!
Now we are building infrastructure in Novosibirsk and Omsk, two major ice hockey cities in our country. Thanks to the World Junior Championship, top-level ice hockey will return to Omsk, and Novosibirsk will have a new brand new stadium. We are confident that in 2023 the tournament will be held in a celebratory atmosphere with full stands. People in these two cities and across our entire nation will receive the opportunity to experience hosting one of the world's most emotional tournaments in their own country over the festive period.
