In the semi-finals of the 2020 IIHF World W18 Championship, the under 18 Russian women's national team came up short against the USA, conceding a 0:3 defeat.
The Americans immediately took control of proceedings as Kirsten Simms and Lacey Eden scored in the first period. In the box seat, the USA promptly increased their advantage to three in the second frame through Emma Gentry, and they subsequently saw out the game to ease to a 3:0 triumph.
Russia will now play against Finland on Thursday in the bronze medal match.
The USA, for their part, will face Canada in the grand final.
