Russian National Team’s defeat

19.02.2014

For Quaterfinal game with Finns Russian National Team Head Coach Zinetula Bilyaletdinov didn’t change Team roster in comparison with yesterday’s game with Norse. Goalie position was the exception – Semyon Varlamov was on the last frontier.

Teams, contrary to the fans’ expectations, started actively and on the third minute Ilya Kovalchuk got to the penalty box. On the 8th minute Granlund got penalty and our Team used it – after Pavel Datsyuk’s great pass Kovalchuk struck Rask’s gate by grand shot.

On the 14th minute Alexei Tereschenko came to penalty bench and this episode was also questionable enough for “slashing” definition. The main moment happened on the 25th minute. In the struggle near gate Alexei Yemelin was stickworked in the face, as a result we saw blood on ice.

In the third period desperate attempts to recoup crushed on Westerlund’s Team organized game. Finn National Team meets with Swiss in Semifinal.
