2018 Channel One Cup. Sweden - Russia. A statistical look

We round up the statistics from the opening 2018 Channel One Cup match between Sweden and Russia at the Legends Park in Moscow.

Russia's last win in a penalty shootout came against Sweden on May 5, 2017 at the IIHF World Championship (2:1 victory). The previous shootout victory in the Euro Hockey Tour was achieved against the Czech Republic on April 30, 2017. Ilya Sorokin was the goalkeeper for that match.

Since 2006, when the tournament became known as the Channel One Cup, this was only the fourth occasion when a game with Russian involvement went to a penalty shootout.

Sergei Andronov and Vladislav Gavrikov both made their 50th appearance for the senior Russian national team. Sergei boasts 13 (6+7) points, while Vladislav has 10 (5+5).

Forwards Kirill Kaprizov and Evgeny Ketov competed in their 30th game for Russia. Kirill possesses an impressive 30 (20+10) points and Evgeny has five (3+2).

In 10 matches for the Russian national team, defenseman Artyom Blazhievskiy has one assist.

Alexander Kadeikin picked up his first assist for the Russian national team in his fourth match.
