Reaction after beating Slovakia at the 2018 World Championship
14.05.2018
Pavel Datsyuk, Nikita Gusev and Igor Shestyorkin spoke after beating Slovakia 4:0 at the 2018 World Championship in Denmark.
Russian national team forward Pavel Datsyuk:
- We knew that we had to win today, no one was worried when we had a 2:0 lead. The difficulty of the match against Sweden will depend on how we play at the two blue lines, our task will be easier if we make less errors. It's good that we will stay in Copenhagen, there will be more time for recovering ahead of the quarter-final stage.
Russian national team forward Nikita Gusev:
- My goal? It wasn't anything special, Pavel Datsyuk gave me a pass and I shot a one timer. We slowed down after a fast start, but we still managed to win the match. I enjoy playing in a line with Pavel and Kirill Kaprizov, we all understand each other and it makes the game easier.
Russian national team goalkeeper Igor Shestyorkin:
- When I was named the match's best player, Yegor Yakovlev gave me a push and I stepped up to collect my award. We played well in the first period and were a lot better than the opponents, but they improved in the second. It's good that the players blocked shots, we won because of their efforts.
