2018 World Championship. Russia - Switzerland - 4:3

12.05.2018
In the fifth 2018 World Championship group stage match, the senior Russian national team defeated Switzerland 4:3 in a pulsating game.

Following a goalless first period, the match burst into life in the second stanza, as Russia opened the scoring through Kirill Kaprizov. Hanging on the crease, the young forward found himself in the right place at the right time, deftly tipped Pavel Datsyuk's effort in to complete a flowing play. Ramon Untersander equalised for the Swiss, but Evgeny Dadonov gave Russia a second lead with a superb effort which crept under the goalkeeper's glove. Nikita Nesterov doubled the advantage just three seconds before the period's completion, firing a huge one timer in from the left faceoff circle when on a 5 on 3 powerplay.

Sven Andrighetto got Switzerland back into the match midway through the third, bundling the puck in on a goalmouth scramble. Mikhail Grigorenko deflected Artyom Anisimov's fantastic pass beyond Reto Berra for a Russian fourth, however the Swiss refused to lie down, as Gaetan Hass scored with a slapper to make it a one-goal game,

Goalkeeper Vasily Koshechkin made some important saves in the dying moments, seeing Russia through to a dramatic 4:3 victory!
