2018 World Championship. Czech Republic - Russia - 4:3 OT

In Denmark, the senior Russian national team lost 3:4 in overtime to the Czech Republic at the 2018 World Championship.
Our players made a fast start in the match, scoring through Nikita Nesterov who rifled a strong slapper beyond Czech goaltender David Rittich. However, as time rolled on, the Czech Republic slowly grew into the game, netting twice in the final minutes of the opening frame. David Krejci went top shelf on Vasily Koshechkin from the high slot, before Dmitrij Jaskin sent a one timer into the net at point blank range.
In a thrilling second stanza, the teams continued trading goals. Mikhail Grigorenko tied it up at two in the first minute of the period, beating the goalkeeper when completely alone on the slot. David Pastrnak did bundle a loose puck home for the Czechs, but Russia had another response, as Alexander Barabanov tapped into the empty net following a superb pass from Nikita Zaitsev. 3:3 after 40 minutes.
The Russians did the majority of attacking in a tight, cautious third period, registering 11 shots on target compared to the Czechs' four. Nevertheless, David Rittich bailed the Czech Republic out, pulling off some excellent saves to take the match to overtime.
Unfortunately, David Pastrnak banked the puck in from a tight angle with the help of Yegor Yakovlev's leg, sealing the 4:3 Czech win and handing Russia the team's maiden defeat of the 2018 World Championship.
