Russian coaches will hold a master-class for young players in Sochi
As a part of the program to develop youth ice hockey in Russian regions, national team coaches will hold a master-class for young players on April 6. The training session will take place in accordance with the Red Machine National Development Program which has a new philosophy for training youth players. The program was put together by the Russian Ice Hockey Federation will be introduced to more than 600 ice hockey schools and seven inter-regional coordination centres.
Russian Olympic team coach Oleg Bratash:
- The new program is based on the player's age and philosophy. While this is a united program for the entire country, individual qualities of each player will be taken into account. We have taken the best from the programs in Canada, the USA, Sweden and Finland.
Russian Olympic team coach Ilya Vorobyov:
- Starting from next season, children between eight and ten years old will begin training in North-West ice hockey schools with the new development program. The process will be made up of different stages. There will be seminars, theory lessons, master-classes and practical lessons.
It will take place at the Bolshoi Ice Dome between 12:00 and 13:00 on April 6.
